Simon NarboroughI was born in London, England in May 1964, and first started my photographic journey in 1973 (yep, I was 9) using a Russian made Cosmic Symbol 35mm that my parents gave me. Into darkroom work a year after that.  Kit-wise I've progressed a bit since those days, and now predominantly use Nikon and Leica.

My main photographic influences: many of the Magnum photographers (their website and photographer links are excellent if you aspire to taking photographs that make a difference). I  especially admire the works of  W. Eugene Smith and Eli Reed. My two other heros are Michael "Nick" Nicols, and Tony O'Brien whose dedication and passion for their photography is truely inspiring. Although I don't pretend to have the abilties of the those mentioned, it never hurts to aim high.

I work in color and black and white, both digital and film based.  My first love is with B&W images which I find much more compelling.

I prefer to shoot to either a story or a theme.  I always have several themes that are active, and I enjoy the challenge. As this site grows, I will be publishing some of my "completed" work, although I do revisit and re-edit earlier collections.

This web site is my means of showcasing some of my work to interested people. I am always happy to receive constructive critique and suggestions for stories or themes. I trust you enjoy the images presented.

Good light and happy shooting
